Steam Transformer

Transformer

  • Transformers are steam conversion valves which reduce pressure while simultaneously desuperheating and modulating the flow-rate of the steam.
  • These processes take place in a single valve.
  • The reduction of steam pressure is achieved by fitting either a perforated spindle or a flattened control spindle, depending on system parameters.
The characteristic trait of a BOMAFA perforated spindle are the numerous variably arranged bored holes; in the flattened control spindle the hole arrangement is located in an upstream bush. The gradual reduction in pressure is achieved by means of orifice plates or perforated bushes in the pipeline, and the desuperheating of the steam is effected by the integration of an injection chamber.

The injection of cooling water occurs after the first pressure reduction stage whereby the downstream orifice plates/perforated bushes and the resulting swirling of water and steam achieve a particularly efficient mixing.

Further Advantages

  • The shape of the valve body and the layout of their interior components are designed and manufactured according to the customer’s specification.
  • Valve operation is effected by premium-grade actuators
  • Our partnership with asfa-Antriebssysteme GmbH enables us to coordinate optimal compatibility between actuators and valves.
  • The design can be optionally modified to allow for operation with different directions of flow (flow to open or flow to close).
