Desuperheater

Desuperheater

  • Desuperheaters are deployed for cooling superheated steam in piping systems and for generating process steam of a specified temperature.
  • The injection of the cooling water in our desuperheaters occurs, if possible, in the region with the smallest cross-section and hence with the greatest steam speed. This leads to optimal mixing and to short vaporisation distances.
The valve’s streamlined shape prevents a high loss of head. The extremely fine atomisation at the nozzles also gives rise to high-quality steam, which helps create the conditions for a controlled desuperheating process.

BOMAFA desuperheaters can be manufactured to various specifications:

  • as Venturi-type desuperheaters with an annular gap or with simple nozzles
  • as a nozzle injection control valve on existing piping
  • as atomisation nozzles with additional up-stream injection control valves.

Further Advantages

  • In order to guarantee atomisation even under critical operational parameters, additional motive steam can be fed into the system.
  • Desuperheating to approx. 50° above the temperature of saturated steam is achieved by water injection within a load range of 10-100%.
  • The focus of our design and manufacturing is meeting the precise requirements of the system at hand. Of particular importance in this regard are the relationships between temperature and saturation point and between temperature and flow speed of the medium.
  • BOMAFA specialises in the manufacture of large desuperheaters with diameters of 4” - 14”. Nonetheless, we have also achieved excellent results in the 2” size class.
